Dr Narayan Hulse is a senior joint replacement surgeon, surgical trainer, author, and a reviewer of orthopaedic journals. He is working as the Senior Director of Orthopaedics at Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore, India. He specialises in conventional and Mako robotic joint replacement surgery, arthroscopy, and pelvic-acetabular trauma. Dr Hulse has a vast surgical experience covering the entire spectrum of orthopaedics by virtue of his training and clinical work in well-known hospitals situated in three continents. He has conducted several training courses in joint replacement surgery. He runs a fellowship program to train young joint replacement surgeons.

He completed his primary medical training from Bangalore Medical College and his Post Graduate training from Madras Medical College winning both the gold medals to be the best outgoing orthopaedic trainee in the State and University. He later underwent higher surgical training from the West of Scotland Deanery (UK). He obtained MRCS (General Surgery) and FRCS (Trauma & Orth) from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and MCh (Orth) from The University of Liverpool. He did his fellowship training in joint replacement surgery from St. Michael’s University Hospital, Toronto, and pelvic acetabular trauma from St. Georges Hospital, London.

He has performed over 7000 joint replacement surgeries. He is the first surgeon in Karnataka to complete 200+ Mako robotic joint replacement surgeries within 5 months of launch. He has performed many live joint replacement surgeries for training surgeons, published numerous scientific papers, and delivered lectures all over the world. He has authored chapters in orthopedic textbooks and is a reviewer of international, indexed orthopedic journals.

For my mother, it felt like a dream come true. As I was typing this review, she was already walking. She had been suffering from knee pain in her left leg for over 11 years, and it had become severely bent. She was afraid and put off the operation until the pain became unbearable.When I was searching for a knee surgeon in Bangalore, 7 out of the 10 people I asked recommended Dr. Narayan. Intrigued, I decided to meet him in person. I quickly understood why so many people spoke so highly of him. He is polite, understands multiple languages, and communicates clearly with his patients. He avoids medical jargon, patiently explaining the procedure and recovery time in simple terms.I would vouch for him any day. After the surgery, he explained what was done and provided thorough instructions on the precautions my mother should take during her recovery. We had to go for one knee at a time as my mom is a kidney patient.The doctor & his whole team were just awesome. What is a bakers cyst?

Bakers cyst occurs in arthritic knees. Cyst itself is never troublesome and usually needs no treatment. The cyst develops as joint fluid escapes into the surrounding soft tissues in arthtitic conditions. Arthritis is treated in a standard way without doing any thing to the cyst. For example if you get a knee replacement done, bakers cyst also disappears automatically.
